Sphere Community Bangladesh (SCB) is an inter-agency platform that aims to promote and disseminate the Sphere standards among local and international NGOs, the RCRC Movement, humanitarian actors and academic institutions across Bangladesh. Some of the many activities conducted by the SCB include staff training programmes, Training of Trainers, as well as the translation of the Sphere Handbook and publications into local language.
Islamic Relief Bangladesh is an affiliated member of Islamic Relief Worldwide which has presence in more than 45 countries. Islamic Relief has been working in Bangladesh since 1991, when it provided emergency relief and supported communities to rebuild in the wake of a devastating cyclone. Since then, it has expanded its programmes to focus both on humanitarian and development challenges.
Islamic Relief Bangladesh is currently chairing the secretariat of the Sphere Community Bangladesh while continuously implementing humanitarian responses in compliance with the Sphere standards, including the CHS, the Humanitarian Charter and the Protection principles.
