Ms. Uma Narayanan, specializes in human resources and organisational development for medium to large scale organizations in the humanitarian sector. Ms. Narayanan has a background in International Organizational and Systems Development and worked as an Organization Development and Human Resources practitioner mostly in Southeast Asia and South Asia, for almost a decade. In her OD capacity, she has carried out numerous assignments on program reviews, evaluations and organizational assessments. Ms. Narayanan is committed to quality and accountability in the humanitarian sector. Comfortable and adapted to various cultural, economical, linguistic and religious environments Ms. Narayanan’s mandates include advising, training and mentoring HR teams as well as supporting the restructuring process of humanitarian organizations. Ms. Narayanan continues to redesign the HR practices and policies for various international humanitarian organizations including in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Myanmar, Mongolia, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. As a Facilitator, Ms. Narayanan has organized, designed, co-facilitated and facilitated over 100 workshops and training sessions both locally and internationally for various organizations. Uma has completed her ToT in Sphere and Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) and has ever since carried out Sphere and HAP trainings in Asia. Resident of Malaysia, Ms. Narayanan has a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences and a Masters of Science with a specialization in human resources and diversity issues from the prestigious London School of Economics. She was one of the only three Malaysian citizens chosen by the World Bank for their 2004-2005 post-graduate scholarship program. As an accredited associate executive coach, she has recently added coaching of middle and senior management as part of her portfolio.
