Mrs. Aya Yagan Alnaset is an M&E specialist with ten years of experience leading and providing technical assistance to international donor-funded Education, Livelihood, Protection, WASH, Health and Nutrition, and Relief Commodities humanitarian aid projects, including extensive experience with programs in conflict, protracted crisis, and early recovery in Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon.
Aya has been a Sphere trainer since 2014 and has been facilitating Sphere training to NGOs and local organization staff in Turkey, Syria, Jordan and online platforms. In 2017, She was also part of the team that rolled out multiple Sphere training and TOT targeting several humanitarian aid agencies operating in Syria and Turkey. The program was followed by a mentoring phase for the TOT graduates. When the new Sphere version was developed (Sphere 2018), she was one of the key experts of the Sphere standards customization to Syrian context initiative during 2014 with the Sphere office and OCHA office Turkey.
In 2019, she was the team leader for the Sphere customization project that converged on the adaptation of Sphere training generic modules to the Syrian context which was published on the Sphere website. The process incorporated a consultative approach with the broader Sphere community in the region. The team engaged with active stakeholders from NW and NE Syria and facilitated a workshop with key thematic experts who provided inputs and case studies.
Most recently, Aya is actively providing online Sphere training via multiple training platforms targeting participants of the humanitarian and development sectors in both English and Arabic languages.
